Daisy Rock is excited to announce the 6th Annual Pretty In Punk Charity Event and Tribute to The
Bangles on Friday, November 19, 2010 at The Roxy in Los Angeles, California, with 100% of the proceeds benefitting Covenant House California and their program, founded by
Motley Crue bassist
Nikki Sixx, 'Running Wild in the Night.'
Originally created as a one-time fundraising event, Pretty In Punk began as a benefit for breast cancer awareness and prevention. The event has now grown into an annual charity event, combining President Tish Ciravolo's mutual love and appreciation of giving back to the community and showcasing women in rock. 'I wanted to create an event where female musicians could showcase their talents while at the same time uniting to support an important cause,' Ciravolo said. 'Pretty In Punk is such a great fun way to do that and has been a huge success each year!'
Daisy Rock is excited to announce the dedication of the 6th Annual Pretty In Punk as a Tribute to The Bangles. Rock historians view the Bangles as one of the greatest all-female bands ever, lauding the L.A.-based quartet for its inventive incorporation of '60s folk rock, sunny SoCal harmonies and Beatles/Byrds/Beach Boys/Big Star godhead into a sound all its own-beguiling, frequently bittersweet, but always life-affirming; a canny merger of art and commerce. Theirs was a rags-to-riches story, from the band's beginnings in L.A.'s Paisley Underground scene through their reign as the smart-pop princesses of the 1980s-a problematic decade that was far richer for the Bangles' presence in its unfolding. In celebration and appreciation of their achievements and music, each allotted Pretty In Punk artist will perform a rendition of their favorite Bangles' song.
Daisy Rock continues to showcase phenomenal female talent with this year's line-up which includes The Dollyrots, Janet Robin, 5 O'clock Shakedown, and sASSafrASS-all culminating with a special performance by The Bangles. In the spirit of charity and giving back, all the performers will generously donate their time free of charge to yield the highest donation possible for Covenant House California and the homeless, trafficked, and at-risk youths it serves. Tickets are now available. For more information about the Pretty In Punk: 6th Annual Charity Event presented by Daisy Rock Girl Guitars, visit daisyrock.com/pip.
