NASHVILLE, TN. (Martina mcBride Official Website) - One of this year's hottest tours has announced plans to continue through the fall with additional dates. The pairing of country superstars
Alan Jackson and
Martina McBride is among the biggest tours of the year landing in Pollstar's list of top ten grossing acts for the past six months. Remarkably, with ticket sales and concert grosses reportedly down this year, the critically-acclaimed tour is among the rare successful standouts. Since the start of their 30 dates together, the tour has generated ticket sales in excess of 420,000 with an average of 14,000 tickets per show.
According to Pollstar, the tour has grossed nearly 25 million dollars so far. Martina and Alan will continue their run for 29 additional dates beginning in August. (See below for complete tour schedule.)
With a successful string of hits and an enviable 12 year career, Martina McBride has become a solid concert draw as well as a critic favorite. The Houston Chronicle called her performance 'flawless,' the Daily Gazette gushed, 'a voice that can make you melt' and the Shreveport Times wrote, 'What a powerful voice...' David Pencek of the Norwich Bulletin wrote, 'The Kansas native has become the standard for which today's female country singers should hope to emulate' and Donnie Moorhouse of the Springfield Republican best summed it up when he wrote, 'McBride is one of the strongest singers in all of popular music, stretching her vocal chords across octaves as if they were elastic bands.'
As for the superstar pairing, critics applauded. 'I think I may have already seen the best concert of the year...this dynamic duo proved why they are two of country music's reigning superstars. Booked alone, this concert would be a great ticket to get, but having them both on the same bill made it the must-see event so far this year,' wrote Tim O'Brien of the Sterling, IL Daily Gazette.
Martina McBride's single "How Far," from her self-titled platinum selling album, is currently at No 13 on Billboard and No 11 on R&R. This past year she picked up her third CMA Female Vocalist of the Year award and in May, she earned her third consecutive ACM Top Female Vocalist Award.
Alan Jackson's "Too Much Of A Good Thing," charts this week at No 12 in R&R and Billboard. This self-penned hit is Jackson's lead single from his forthcoming studio album, What I Do, slated for release on Tuesday, September 7th.
