NEW YORK (Roadrunner Records) - Chimaira's label, Roadrunner Records, have announced that Chimaira have parted ways with Richard "Ricky" Evensand, and added Kevin Tally of Misery Index fame into the fold. Here is the statement: Conflicting reports surround the mysterious emergence of Kevin Talley as the drummer of Chimaira. Word has spread that former drummer Richard Evensand (who replaced Andols Herrick seven months prior) choked on his own vomit while listening to Bon Scott-era AC/DC on the tour bus late one night. Lab analysis of the vomit contained traces of vodka and Chinese food, which was copped from his band members. Other reports suggest he was almost choked to death by band mates prior to the incident, which may have in fact induced the vomiting. Frontman Hunter and guitarist DeVries were supposedly detained overnight for questioning by Cleveland's metropolitan police force, but have since been released. Reading posts from fans on various online message boards suggest that Richard Evensand left the band for the coveted drummer spot in Old, New, Borrowed, and Blue - Cleveland's finest wedding/bar mitzvah outfit...though, no truth has been laid to that claim. In fact, more weight is being placed on the probability that Evensand is more likely to be playing drums in a hot jazz trio in Hamburg, Germany. Of course, those in the front row of a surprise Chimaira show last week in Shaker Heights swear that Evensand burst into flames during "Power Trip" (speaking of which, video coming this week). All joking aside, whatever the real story, all sources confirm the split was imperative. The bottom line is, a new drummer is in the Chimaira ranks - Kevin Talley, formerly of Dying Fetus. Recommended to the band by Slayer's Kerry King, Kevin will be behind the kit for Chimaira's co-headline run with Machine Head on the US Road Rage tour, which starts tomorrow night (8/03) in Cleveland, and on the band's inaugural trips to Japan and Australia in September. Check our TOUR section for all upcoming dates, and see them while you can, as this will be the band's last US tour run in support of The Impossibility Of Reason. PS - for the real reason on this and more, check out Chimaira's upcoming DVD The Dehumanizing Process, coming this winter.
