CAMBRIDGE, MA. (Zoe Records) - The
Tragically Hip will be hitting the road in the United States this fall (see tour dates below). The tour, which will stop over 20 cities, will kick off on
September 18th in Detroit. As a band known well and perhaps loved best for their live shows, the legendary live act has been making vibrant, gritty rock 'n roll for over 20 years and has also sold over 6 million albums worldwide. The Hip will be touring in support of their latest album, In Between Evolution, which was released on June 29th on Zoë/Rounder Records. The album was produced by Adam Kasper (Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age,
Pearl Jam).
The songs on In Between Evolution were road-tested in front of live audiences before the band took them into the studio to record. It's in the live setting that the songs for this album were given a polish, and live, The Tragically Hip always shines and never fails to impress. Earlier this summer, The Hip played a number of outdoor venues and festivals in Canada, as well as a handful of club dates and one show (in Buffalo) in the United States.
In reviewing the Buffalo show, the Buffalo News called their performance "an electrifying experience," and said: "In the studio, The Hip explores different sonic terrain, and always brings together a batch of organically linked tunes under an overarching theme, either explicit or implicit. In concert, the band roars mightily, but just as often pulls the audience inside its own ethereal space - few bands currently performing can boast The Hip's command of dynamics, drama and the emotional arc and sweep of the concert experience."
The Tragically Hip is: Robby Baker (guitar), Gordon Downie (lead vocals, acoustic guitar), Johnny Fay (drums), Paul Langlois (guitar, vocals), and Gord Sinclair (bass, vocals).
