NEW YORK (Atlantic Records) - The
Donnas have unveiled details of their hotly anticipated new album, GOLD MEDAL. The follow-up to 2002's breakthrough major label debut, SPEND THE NIGHT, their latest set arrives in stores on October 26th.
GOLD MEDAL sees the Donnas - Brett Anderson: vocals; Torry Castellano: drums; Maya Ford: bass; Allison Robertson: guitars - raising the bar, as musicians and songwriters, to deliver the best work of their career. Produced by Butch Walker (Avril Lavigne, Injected) and mixed by Chris Lord-Alge, such tracks as 'Fall Behind Me' and 'Revolver' blast off the blocks with newfound invention and intensity. With 'GOLD MEDAL,' the Donnas take the top prize for vital, edgy, modern rock'n'roll.
'The title of the record says it all,' says Castellano. 'This is the sound of the Donnas really going for it, pushing ourselves and doing the best we can.'
'Fall Behind Me,' the provocative first single, is quickly winning fans at radio. The track, which goes for adds this week, is already being played at such major stations as San Francisco's LIVE 105 and Washington D.C.'s DC101, and has been Jed the Fish's 'Catch of the Day' on KROQ in Los Angeles.
The companion video for 'Fall Behind Me,' directed by the visionary collective Tomorrow's Brightest Minds, is a ?60s-inspired, black light, psychedelic tour-de-force. MTV2 will air an in-depth, 30-minute special appropriately entitled 'The Donnas Make A Video' - set to debut on September 16th at 9:00 PM ET (check local listings).
The Bay Area-based combo - who recently wowed UK audiences with a pair of triumphant performances at the annual Carling Weekend festival in Reading and Leeds - is firming up a fall tour of North America. Slated to begin in early November, dates will be announced shortly.
