NEW YORK (Top40 Charts/ Kate Lush Official Website) - Kate recently became a multi international award winning singer/songwriter... but it nearly didn't go that way..... Kate called her album 'Don't Wait Too Long' for good reason. Like many just like her, she had a lot of songs lying around not doing much. 'If you're not out there playing the originals scene every night of the week, not many people get to hear your work'.
One of her songs 'New Day' was recorded by Deni Hines and a few bands were using others, but behind the scenes the singer didn't have publishing and thought releasing her own album was impossible in reality. 'I nearly left everything on the cutting room floor' she said 'Even though bands were beginning to use my songs, it was slow and I wasn't convinced that going to find publishing was going to make that any better. I just started to think it was all too hard. Then, through a conversation with a friend of mine I was turned around about doing an album. He was lamenting the fact that he never put down his originals - he'd always been in bands, but didn't have a single recording to show for it or to play to his kids. It really pulled me up and literally the next week I was booked into Love Hz Studio's in Leichardt in Sydney and that was that.

In Feb 2009 Kate won a top category Place in the U.S. IAMA (Int. Acoustic Music Award) for Best Female Artist for her song - "Isabelle". On the same day she won SAW (Songwriters Assoc. of Washington) 2009 Grand Prize for Best International Artist for "Isabelle" as well as a finalist place in their Rock category. Kate also won a U.S. Gibson Guitar (final 5) award in Nov '08 for New Acoustic Artist Of The Year for the same song and was a past finalist in the Mid Atlantic Songwriting competition for her song 'I Think This Is It'.

Her album 'Don't Wait Too Long', is now available on iTunes, emusic & Amazon MP3, and she will be playing at the Old Manly Boatshed this Thursday night.

A Sydney Triple J Radio 'Unearthed' listener commented on Kate's song 'Still The One' - 11 Feb, 2009 rating it a 4/5 '...your voice completely won me over. There's so much power and personality behind it. There's a definite Cheryl Crowe-ness to this track. An alternative rock sound that's risen out of country roots. It'd be awesome to hear more from you'.

Her influences are varied and not the ones you'd expect from a rock/alt country singer. 'I have always loved artists like Aretha Franklin, Anita Baker, Stevie Wonder and so many of the old school Soul and R&B singers. I have also been influence by people like Bonnie Raitt, Billy Joel, Boz Scaggs and James Taylor as well as many of our Aussie rockers like Jimmy Barnes and Midnight Oil to name a few' she said. She laughs about her country sound.. 'yes, I know it really comes through in my songwriting. Although I am a city girl, the rest of my family here in Australia are all from the country and I think this has had a big impact on me as an artist as I was growing up.'

Other competition wins include: Australian Idol's 'My Mum Rocks' NSW final. Sydney's 2DayFM Radio Station competition to replace Geri Halliwell at Hombush Stadium for their 'Rumba' festival. Performing alongside local and International giants such as Shaggy, Nelly Furtado, Emma Bunton, Craig David, Tina Arena & Vanessa Amorossi in front of 50,000 revelers.

2DayFM's festival organizers said of their winner that 'her performance was truly outstanding.. Not only did she stun the crowd with her performance but also those in the music industry'. 'Kate is a true performer... who has only just scratched the surface with her talent'. Of her outlook for this coming year, she said she is looking forward to doing lots of live work and immersing herself in songwriting.
