MIAMI, FL. (The Latin Recording Academy) - The Latin Recording Academy today announced that Salma Hayek and the executive producer of the evening, Quincy Jones, will present international superstar Carlos Santana with the 2004 Latin Recording Academy Person Of The Year award. As previously announced, George Lopez and Cheech Marin will co-host the tribute gala to take place Monday, Aug. 30, 2004 at the Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles .

Cabas, Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter will be performing at the tribute concert along with previously announced artists the Black Eyed Peas, Cafe Quijano, Fher of Mana, La Ley, Dave Matthews and Carter Beauford, Ozomatli, Robi Draco Rosa, Rob Thomas and Julieta Venegas, as well as a special musical performance by the honoree himself. Additional celebrity attendees will be announced soon.

Carlos Santana will receive the honor of the 2004 Latin Recording Academy Person Of The Year for his professional, cultural and philanthropic accomplishments. The celebrity gala honoring Santana will feature a dinner and dazzling tribute concert with performances by many of today's great musical talents.

A portion of the proceeds from the Latin Recording Academy Person Of The Year tribute will benefit the MusiCares Foundation, which ensures that music people have a place to turn in times of financial, medical and personal need.
