HUNTINGTON, NY (ALR) - AMERICAN LAUNDROMAT RECORDS (ALR) has announced that founder and editor of filmthreat.com, and host of IFC's popular game show "Ultimate Film Fanatic", CHRIS GORE will be writing the liner notes to "High School Reunion" a tribute to those great 80s films. "High School Reunion" will feature prominent singer-songwriters and indie bands covering songs from Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Say Anything, Repo Man, Valley Girl, early John Hughes films, and more. Chris' liner notes will accompany the CD under a newly formed Film Threat sub label. Tentative release date is
September 15, 2005.
"I grew up on the films of John Hughes, and movies starring the likes of John Cusack, Jon Cryer and Molly Ringwald. I'm ecstatic at the thought of cramming the musical memories from those movies onto one CD. Those pivotal 80s teen angst movies had quite an impact on me during those impressionable years. I am the kind of geek who still makes mix tapes, and this promises to be the ultimate 80s movie mix tape." Chris Gore.
Chris Gore has built a solid reputation as the brutally honest founder of the legendary Film Threat (www.FilmThreat.com). He is also the author of The Ultimate Film Festival Survival Guide, which has fast become the bible for filmmakers hoping to launch careers on the festival circuit.
In addition to being a noted speaker and author, he is a regular on the Independent Film Channel as a news commentator and the host of Ultimate Film Fanatic. He was named one of the 25 Most Influential People in Independent Film by Film Festival Today magazine. Recently, Chris wrote and produced his first feature, the comedy My Big Fat Independent Movie. His home on the web can be found at www.ChrisGore.com.
"This tribute record is as much about the films as it is about the songs. I wanted someone who is as passionate about films as much as I am to write the liner notes. Chris was my first and only choice so thankfully he loved the project and agreed immediately to lend a hand." ALR founder and president, Joe Spadaro.
AMERICAN LAUNDROMAT RECORDS is a New York based record label that has been compared to a young SubPop and 4AD. Since launching the label in April of 2004, ALR has managed to build an impressive roster of artists and release records that have been embraced by critics and college radio.
Kristin Hersh (Throwing Muses), John Strohm (The Blake Babies), Vic Chesnutt, Lori McKenna, and The Caulfield Sisters are just a few of the artists confirmed to contribute cover tracks. ALR will release all the artists in mid-April with surprise announcements to follow.
