A New Day
Spring Concert: March 19, 2005, 8 pm
Stravinsky L'histoire du soldat (The Soldier's Tale)
[Brahms Trio No. 1 in B Major]

Regarded as a "Classicist" by music scholars, Germanic-composer Johannes Brahms is certainly one of the greatest composers in music history. His orchestral pieces, chamber music, choral works and piano concertos are world renowned. This beautiful piece, his Trio No. 1 in B Major Opus 8, was written for piano, violin, and cello, this opus is a fine example of the awe-inspiring talent of this master composer.

What a treat, for your senses! The Ritz Chamber Players' original works for chamber ensemble will take your breath away! This lithe ensemble keeps concert-goers engaged with music from Ravel who is French to his fingertips, as his Piano Trio in A minor proves. Finally, you will be launched into the trio version of Stravinsky's ballet, L'histoire du soldat (The Soldier's Tale), that reveals this great Russian composer's ideas on American Jazz! Concerts begin promptly at 8:00 p.m. at the Terry Theater in the Times-Union Center for the Performing Arts. For ticket information, call the Jacksonville Symphony Box Office (904) 354-5547; toll free (877) 662-6731, Monday Friday.

The nation's first chamber music ensemble series comprised solely of accomplished musicians spanning the African diaspora brings a fresh, new energy to the classical music genre. Matching the vision of founder and artistic director Terrance Patterson, the Ritz Chamber Players include some of the most notable and accomplished musicians of our time.
To hear the Ritz Chamber Players perform is to hear history come to life. From Bach, Beethoven, Mendelssohn and Tchaikovsky to today's leading black composers Singleton, Walker, Perkinson and Bonds, the Players are creating a revolution in the classical music scene. With their international charm and masterful interpretation, the Ritz Chamber Players will make classical music lovers of us all.
Mark your calendars now for the Season Finale June 3, 2005
