NEW
YORK (www.knittingfactory.com) - "Trip the Light Fantastic," the
solo debut from Ladybug Mecca, regarded as one of hip hop music's most
cherished voices, and Urb Magazines 'Hot 100' (most promising new
artist to look for) is set for a late June release.
Ladybug's
first solo effort could be called a documentation of what's she's
learned raising her four children and living a spiritual life out of
the spotlight. With a deep sense of spirituality, as well as a sense of
responsibility to her listeners, she brings us her new offering.
According to Ladybug, the new CD titled, "Trip the Light Fantastic"
(scheduled for release June 28, 2005 on Nu Paradigm Entertainment) was
inspired by "being me, the rhythm, being poetic, the weather, love, the
innocence of children, wisdom of elders, experiences, sex, attraction,
fantasy its endless really. I could go on and on..." It's a mature
musical statement armed with philosophy, spiritual awareness, and a
solid sense of self.
"Trip the Light Fantastic'' runs the
gamut of styles, including samba, hip-hop, jazz and rock and has
received great reviews from Elemental & Latina Magazine. In an
industry hungry for 'good' music, it has embraced its lost daughter,
Mecca: The Ladybug. With recent story features on MTVNews.com, VH1.com,
Vibe.com, Pollstar, Urb Magazine and The Associated Press, it is clear
that Ladybug Mecca is here to stay.
Punctuating the CD's debut
will be a series of select concert dates throughout the US. The
following show begins at 10:00 PM unless otherwise noted. Please check
