(IMAGINATION SYMPHONY) - On October 15th, 2005, Vic Muenzer, conductor and producer of Grammy Award-winning recordings, will bring to the stage his highly acclaimed production created especially for children! This October production, "The Adventures of Luke Starsmoocher", promises to be a spectacular show, not only fulfilling its goal to introduce children to classical music, but also to give all attendees the opportunity to experience the very best of Chicago's music and theater professionals in the Athenaeum Theatre's intimate setting.
Imagination Symphony is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to introducing children to classical music through interactive stage productions featuring actors and a 60-piece symphony orchestra. The October 15th production of "The Adventures of Luke Starsmoocher" is co-written by the organization's founder Vic Muenzer and Stage Director Rick Kotrba (Former Producer at WTTW Channel 11). This futuristic-themed half-play half-orchestral concert promises to be a real visual and auditory stimulant, as the Imagination Symphony is a collection of Chicago's finest professional musicians, some of which are from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Park Ridge Civic Orchestra, and other local professional orchestras from around the Chicago area. This performance promises to be an extra special treat, as the Imagination Symphony will feature a special guest solo by Chicago Symphony Orchestra's Assistant Concertmaster David Taylor!
The visual and special effects promise to be a show all on its own, as the Imagination Symphony has recruited the highly coveted talents of the internationally acclaimed Lighting Designer Margaret Nelson. Nelson is the 2005 recipient of Chicago's very own Ruth Page Award!
In front of the Imagination Symphony Orchestra will stand the professional acting talents of Rebecca Phend, Zachary Julius, Nate Faust, Gregory and Gabriel Muenzer, Vic Muenzer, and Rick Kotrba, as the evil Dearth Strudel! "The Adventures of Luke Starsmoocher" is a parody fit for all ages and has a futuristic theme loosely based on Star Wars and 2001 Space Odyssey. Orchestral works featured during this 60-minute production include compositions by J. Williams, Holst (The Planets), Beethoven, R. Strauss, and others.
The performance will take place at 2:00PM on Saturday, October 15, 2005, at the Athenaeum Theater 2936 N. Southport, Chicago, IL (corner of Southport and Belmont).
