Former President Bill Clinton was presented with a custom-made LA Sax by Brazilian saxophonist Leo Gandelman on Tuesday (July 17) at the Mansfield Hotel in New York. Clinton also jammed with Gandelman on a bossa nova jam version of "Summertime."
Jazzateria Records' Preston Powell says, "After the 'Summertime' performance, Mr. Clinton said that he loved the quality of his brand new Tenor LA Sax. He said also that his New York home has a music room, and that now he has more time to play. He told a Brazilian journalist who was there that he intends to have sax lessons from now on." The sax given to Clinton was emblazoned with the Brazilian flag.
