From his early days in New York DJing at parties for Keith Haring and at his first club Bassline, Junior developed a near-cult following at The Sound Factory and later at the Tunnel, Palladium and Twilo (in the original Sound Factory space). It's a strange power of unity that Junior has managed to achieve time and time again with every change of venue over the years: from Tunnel to Palladium, Twilo to Earth and Earth to Discotheque, and now to Pacha. Every venue that Junior plays in has become legendary in its own right; defined by its own sound created by Vasquez.
Outside of the DJ Booth, Junior was courted by fashionista Donatella Versace and artists like Michael Jackson, Prince and Cyndi Lauper. MC Hammer, the biggest name in hip hop at the time, re-cut his 'Pray' video to Junior's mix, John Mellencamp opened his 1992 World tour with Junior's version of 'Love and Happiness' and of course Madonna. Her voice on the now infamous answering message was heard on dancefloors around the world in Junior's own "If Madonna Calls.'
Junior Vasquez is an icon, a luminary, a pioneer and he continues to reign at the top of his game with unabated energy and enthusiasm for the dancefloor.
