LOS ANGELES (Top40 Charts/ Columbia/ Legacy) - Wynton Marsalis, the prodigiously talented trumpeter known for his championing of traditional jazz and jazz education, has a new release, 'Standards & Ballads,' coming from Columbia/Legacy on January 22, 2008.
The CD includes 14 classics such as Hoagy Carmichael's "Stardust," theGershwins' "Embraceable You," Rodgers & Hart's "Where Or When," Sammy Cahn and Jule Styne's "I Guess I'll Hang My Tears Out To Dry," Vernon Duke's "I Can't Get Started," and nine more, including Duke Ellington's "Flamingo."

Marsalis is also embarking on a nationwide "Ellington Love Songs" tour, featuring the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra and some of the Duke's most romantic compositions.

The first jazz musician to win a Pulitzer Prize, Wynton Marsalis has released nearly 50 albums since 1981. 'Standards & Ballads' is one of his most accessible, featuring tender renditions and beautiful arrangements of some of the best-known love songs of all time.
