LOS ANGELES (Madonna Fans Website) - Sinks, drowns, belly-flops ? pick your pun, Madonna/Guy Ritchie's Swept Away bombed at the box office this weekend.

The movie - starring Madonna and directed by husband Ritchie, who was critically praised for Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch -- made $375,000 in box office receipts. The film, doomed by bad advance reviews and once rumored to be going straight to video, was shown in just 196 theatres.

However, the hip-hop-flavored Brown Sugar -- featuring Mos Def, Queen Latifah, and cameos from De La Soul, Talib Kweli, Jermaine Dupri, and others - fared much better. The film debuted at No. 3 with $11.1 million from 1,372 theatres.
