CHICAGO (www.teddyrichards.com) - Pop/rock artist Teddy Richards returned to his hometown of Detroit after several triumphant shows at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland. Besides performing a coveted slot between Seal and Chic in the Stravinski Auditorium Jazz Club, Richards also joined fellow Detroiter George Clinton and Parliament/Funkadelic on stage during his set.

Later, after Seal's show, Richards returned for a sizzling encore performance that included guest appearances by Australian Aboriginal paint artist and dijeridooist John Smith Gumbula, jazz artist Kyle Eastwood (Clint Eastwood's son), drummer Omar Hakim (who plays with Sting and many others), Silver (one of Chic's background singers), and Montreux Jazz Festival creator Claude Nobs himself sitting in on harmonica. Chic's percussionist, Gerardo Velez, who performed with Jimi Hendrix at the Monterey Pop Festival in 1970, and has toured with David Bowie, Steve Windwood, and Spyro Gyra, also made a guest appearance during Richards' extended encore set.
"Without question, performing at the Montreux Jazz Festival is the highlight of my career as an artist. I'm truly honored to have been included in a music festival with Alicia Keys, B.B. King, Chic Corea, Spearhead, Carlos Santana, Spearhead, Suzanne Vega, Seal and other artists of that stature,' remarked a thrilled Teddy Richards.

In addition to his concerts at Montreux, Teddy Richards conducted a workshop on songwriting and the music business at Montreux's Le Petit Palais. Richards' shows and workshop were such hits that the artist has already been invited to perform, and to host a songwriting seminar at next year's Montreux Jazz festival. 'I work very hard at my craft and it's a great feeling to have the Montreux Jazz Festival as the fruit of my labor. I look forward to returning next year,' said Richards.

You can catch Teddy Richard's performing live at various venues this summer. Richards also continues to perform as the guitarist in his mother, Aretha Franklin's band. Complete tour information and the latest news are available on Teddy Richards' web site: https://www.teddyrichards.com.
