NEW YORK (DreamWorks Records) - Chicago-based punk band Rise Against continues to make friends and convert skeptics with the remarkable out-of-the-box sales success of their new Geffen album 'Siren Song Of The Counter-Culture.' The CD enjoyed a big spike in sales in its first week of release, propelling it to a coveted No 3 on the Billboard 'Heatseekers' chart with total sales of 9,072. The big first week sales also results in a debut of No 136 on 'The Billboard 200' album chart. College radio is also making gains as the CD jumps to No 29 on the College Music Journal Chart this week after debuting at No 49 last week.

Rise Against are not just great musicians, the members are also social subversives, supporting groups like PETA2 and MoveOn.org. They also agitate for fair trade laws and AIDS activism and they recently gave a track to Fat Wreck Chords' 'Rock Against Bush' compilation.

Rise Against is comprised of vocalist Tim McIlrath, bassist Joe Principe, drummer Brandon Barnes and guitarist Chris Chasse.
In spring 2001, the quartet released their debut CD 'The Unraveling' on Fat Wreck Chords. After two years of touring, Rise Against recorded 'Revolutions Per Minute' (2002). The band then amicably left Fat Wreck Chords. The new album 'Siren Song Of The Counter-Culture,' their first for Geffen, was recorded in spring 2004 with producer Gggarth Richardson (Rage Against The Machine, Chevelle, Sick Of It All) at his Vancouver studio.

Currently, Rise Against is winding up a successful string of dates as one of the headliners on this year's Warped Tour before heading out opening for punk heroes Bad Religion.
